Why is an Air Conditioning Zone not Running?

Why is a certain zone not working, or only works intermittently with AirTouch?

Sometimes, it may seem like an air conditioning zone isn’t operating, with no cooled or warmed air coming from the outlet. Most commonly, the reason for this is that your home climate control has reached temperature and the AC unit doesn’t need to send more conditioned air. If this is the case, this is normal, and doesn’t require a technician. This is especially so when it comes to a specific zone, if you have an ITC or ITS sensor in it because the zone may be at temperature and the wireless sensor has relayed this information back to AirTouch, and AirTouch is saving energy by not sending more conditioned air to where it isn’t needed.

Technical Issues that may need and Air Conditioning Installer

If a Zone is not operating at all, and isn’t being heating or cooled your Air Conditioning Installer may need to:

  • Check the motor position is moving when set on/off. If motor is working check the duct work is not causing the air flow issue.
  • Check/test zone control cable.
  • Check/test zone port on main control module.
  • Check/test the relevant zone motor/damper is working correctly.
